MixCast

A Software Set for creating Mixed Reality content compatible with SteamVR and Oculus platform

January, 2018

MixCast is a set of softwares that can help users blends real people with virtual worlds to create compelling 2D content from VR applications in real-time, regardless of their surrounding environment. An audience can now overcome the isolation of VR by viewing a person immersed in VR on a television, monitor, projection screen, or mobile phone. The created mixed reality content can also be used for sharing and broadcasting.

With a quick and simple one-time setup, MixCast is compatible with almost any SteamVR application, no additional configuration required. It is hardware agnostic and works with a wide variety of cameras, including the Intel RealSense series of depth cameras, which enable capture in any environment without a green screen. It supports all major PC VR headsets, including the HTC VIVE, Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality.

I was working in Blueprint Reality Inc. for a year as a VR Engineer, and took charge of implementing and enhancing this project. I was involved in almost every part of the integration, including Unity UI framework, shared texture framework, inter-process communication framework, Intel RealSense SDK integration, DirectX injection tool, background removal shader, Unity SDK, SteamVR third party driver and various Unity native plugins. In this project, I had gained large amount of practical experiences and knowledge as a VR developer.
